Have you ever wished you could convert your internet links or bookmarks from one browser format to another? Perhaps you use Netscape and AOL concurrently, or Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape. Maybe you want to send a folder full of your favorite Netscape bookmarks to a friend who uses Microsoft Internet Explorer, or a family member who's on America Online - or vise versa. Perhaps you want to convert all of your browser bookmarks to Apple's OS 8.5 URL link clippings.
Enter LinkConverter!
LinkConverter consists of a set of four AppleScripts that convert single URL Internet Explorer links, Netscape bookmarks, Mac OS 8.5 URL link clippings, and AOL "Favorite Places" links into each other. Just drag one or more link files or folders onto the corresponding program icon. That's it, the rest is automatic.
LinkConverter runs on both 68k and PPC Mac OS computers, and has been tested with Mac OS 8.1, 8.5.1, and 8.6. This version includes a scripting addition called "Resource Utilities." Resource Utilities is part of the "Dialog Director 0.7" package which was written by Christopher Hyde. It is Freeware, but must be distributed as a complete package. The Resource Utilities scripting addition enhances AppleScript's functionality, and it is necessary in order for your computer to make use of the new features that are built into LinkConverter 1.1.2.
Before using LinkConverter please place "Resource Utilities" into the "Scripting Additions" folder inside your System Folder, and restart your computer.
Note: Complete Bookmark lists (Bookmark.html) and Favorites (Favorites.html) can be imported by Navigator and Explorer themselves, so LinkConverter is not necessary for this purpose.

LinkConverter Tip 1: FinderPop!
Greetings Fellow Link Converters!
Here's a great new tip from Randy McElligott.
If you are using FinderPop, version 1.8.0 or later, available from turly at: http://www.finderpop.com, then you can access and apply LinkConverter from within your contextual menu items. It's as easy as 1-2-3. Here's how it works:
1. Make a folder called "LinkConverter" inside the "FinderPop Items Folder," which you´ll find inside the "Preferences" folder, which is inside the "System Folder."
2. Copy, or make aliases of the LinkConverter scripts and place them in the LinkConverter folder you have just made. At this time there are four LinkConverter scripts to choose from: Link to NAV, Link to MSIE, Link to AOL and Link to OS 8.5.
3. Now using your mouse, or other input device, select any link or bookmark file, or group, or folder of link or bookmark files, and (control) click to access your contextual menu items. In the FinderPop popup menu you´ll see the LinkConverter scripts you have just placed there. Select the script of your choice, and voila -- automated contextual link conversion accomplished.
